Uses For The Industrial Label Printer

Government agencies, military organizations, corporations, small businesses, and school districts all use label printers. An industrial label printer allows a large organization to create information labels with important information which can be placed on packages, documents, and equipment.

Most organizations operate within safety guidelines and regulations, as well as their own internal rules and policies and having the ability to post these guidelines where they are clearly and readily available helps to provide an effective and safe work environment. Additionally, many work places, especially government, military, and school environments must operate within OSHA guidelines which call for clearly labeling all hazards. Putting labels and warnings in the place of work is difficult without proper labeling machines. This is why an industrial printer makes a handy tool when it comes to labeling stuff around the business.

There are different types of printers available. One type is thermal transfer printing. The technique involves the use of traditional digital printing. However, the image or text is transferred on the surface through the use of thermal heat.

Another form of printer is the color thermal printer. This machine transfers colored images of waxed ink by melting it onto a surface. The wax ink ribbon and paper go together to a thermal print head where ink is melted on the paper to create a colored image. After applying heat, the image is transferred on the surface. These printers are preferred by large industries because these machines can print in large quantities at a fast rate and the outcome is waterproof. In addition, companies love these printers because they are durable. Since these are industrial grade, the printers can be operated with heavy use.

Another popular printer used by industrial organization is the Tektronix solid ink printer. Phasers or solid ink printers were popular back in the day. They were developed by Tektronix but it was Xerox that improved the design after the latter purchased the former. The printers use once inch cubed rectangular solid ink block which texture is that of a candle wax. These blocks are fed on the printer. The blocks are melted so it can transform into liquid ink. The ink travels to a oil coated rotating print drum and into an inkjet head. The ink is then transferred on the paper.

The device has qualities of an inkjet printer. However, the ink is water based. This creates high quality results. However since it is water based, the outcome is affordable. Maintenance cost of these printers is not much. However, it consumes a lot of energy making it quite expensive to use.

Another popular printer used by companies is the MicroDry printer. Developed in Japan, this system is a resin-transfer/wax process which uses thermal ribbon cartridges. The printer can print process colors using magenta, cyan, black, and yellow. It process spot colors like metallic silver, white, and metallic gold. It can print on different types of paper. Even transparent papers can be printed. There are also MicroDry printers that can do dye sublimation by using special paper and cartridges.

The utilization of industrial printers varies and may include barcode labels, labels of chemical containers, and the more common clothing labels. They can certainly help keep a company’s inventory and workplace neat and organized.
